Time for the UK to deliver real leadership

Now is the time to show real climate leadership. As the host of two global summits this year, the UK has a unique opportunity to rally other countries across the world to step up their action. But while the UK government claims to be a climate leader, many of its policies are taking us in the opposite direction.

We need to act now to stop new fossil fuel projects; invest in solutions like renewables and energy efficiency; prevent banks and investors from funding climate-wrecking industries; and genuinely protect our forests and oceans, instead of allowing polluters to use them as greenwash.

We need to pressure the government to change course: real climate leaders act, and that action is what we need from our government this year more than ever before.

Dear Prime Minister Boris Johnson,

“It’s time for the UK to deliver real leadership on climate change:
1) Fossil fuels: stop new fossil fuel projects and create millions of new jobs in renewable energy, green homes and clean transport.
2) Finance: legislate to stop banks and investors from funding climate-wrecking industries.
3) Forests: genuinely protect forests, oceans and nature.
4) Fairness: increase funds for climate action in countries on the frontline and reverse cuts to the aid budget.”
