STOP DEEP SEA MINING BEFORE IT STARTS
Deep sea mining is a new threat to the oceans. But we can stop it before it starts. Indigenous communities have been taking action, and over 32 nations have rejected deep sea mining. And thanks to people taking action across the country, the Conservative government finally came out against it too.
Yet the deep sea mining industry is pressing on and lobbying nations to open up their waters. That’s why we need Governments to put the deep sea off-limits to mining for good.
The deep sea is the largest untouched ecosystem on earth – but now huge machines threaten to destroy huge parts of the ocean floor, threatening this fragile habitat, marine biodiversity and the planet's resilience to climate change.
This could do long lasting and irreversible damage, as well as wipe out species that haven’t even been discovered yet and devastate Indigenous coastal communities.
Can you tell Keir Starmer to make sure the industry never starts anywhere?
