Don’t scrap the Windfall Tax
Chancellor Rachel Reeves is considering scrapping the Windfall Tax in the autumn budget this month.
The Windfall Tax was introduced for a reason: to make oil and gas companies pay their fair share while families struggled with sky-high energy bills.
But as the cost of living crisis continues and extreme weather causes destruction around the world, the fossil fuel giants responsible are still making billions at our expense.
Now is not the time to give them a tax break.
So instead of scrapping the Windfall Tax, the government should bring in more polluter taxes so oil and gas companies pay for the climate damage they cause in the UK and beyond.
Add your name to urge Chancellor Rachel Reeves to keep the Windfall Tax and take stronger action to hold polluters accountable.
