Don’t scrap the Windfall Tax

Fossil fuel companies are trying to get Chancellor Rachel Reeves to scrap the Windfall Tax.

This tax was introduced after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, to fund emergency support for people with sky-high energy bills. Oil and gas prices shot up, and fossil fuel companies made massive "windfall" profits.

It’s happening again because of the US-Israel attack on Iran. Fossil fuel giants stand to make billions, while the rest of us face even higher bills. But their greed is insatiable, and they’re lobbying for tax cuts.

Clearly it’s not the time to scrap the Windfall Tax - we need it now more than ever.
