Protect the Arctic from deep sea mining
Norway is opening the door for deep sea mining companies to carve up an area of the Arctic seabed the size of the UK. This will cause irreversible damage to one of the world's most ancient ecosystems.
The good news is we can stop this industry before it starts, but we don’t have much time.
The Arctic is warming twice as fast as other parts of the world as a result of climate change and the ice is melting. If we don't step in, new extractive industries could damage it even further. This is our chance to protect an ecosystem on the edge and preserve its critical role in the fight against the climate crisis.
The Arctic plays a crucial role in cooling our planet and its deep waters are home to many animals that we love like whales, dolphins and orcas. Norway’s plans would put this rare habitat at even greater risk.
Sign the petition now and call on the Norwegian government to stop deep sea mining before it starts.
