Supermarkets: STOP Breaking Plastic Promises!

Sick of still having to buy things wrapped in throwaway plastic? You’re not alone!

After years of campaigning and a public outcry, supermarkets made some BIG promises to cut plastic from their shelves. But five years on, they're still flooding the UK with tonnes of plastic wrapping.

Whatever personal shopping choices you make, this isn’t something you can fix alone. For all of us doing our bit and recycling, it's shocking to know that only 17% of our plastic is actually recycled. The rest is landfilled, burned or dumped abroad.

Without public pressure and the government stepping in, supermarkets can’t be trusted to change their ways.

But here’s the good news: For the first time ever, the UK government is preparing to strike a deal with countries all over the world that could reduce plastic production at the source.
